The hilly countryside of Missouri is green, lush, and very peaceful.
The long, climbing hills are a challenge to us, but our legs are prepared
for the strong effort. The sights are wonderful. In fact, it is hard
to keep your eyes on the road ahead. There are so many unique, beautiful
lakes with mountain ranges in the distance.
As we left Hilltown, on the
way to Seymour, we passed the R & S Flower
shop. This business is about 22 miles west of Springfield. We’ve never
seen a flower shop display their products on the side of the road.
After
two hours we took a break in Springfield to snack in the motor home.
We found Sean on the phone talking with Don Feldman, the News Director
at WCSC, Channel 5 TV, in Charleston, SC. Sean calls each day around
noon, our time, and gives them an update along with other important
news. Sean is seen here with his pad, pen, and cell phone. Sean spends
a great
deal of time each day setting up interviews with local news media.
Today he set up a session with a reporter for Springfield’s newspaper.
After
lunch (leftovers in the motor home and turkey sandwiches) we prepared
for rain. The cars coming from the east had their headlights on and rain
drops on their hoods. So we put on our rainwear and began to ride. It
wasn’t heavy, but it did last a long time.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, we will take the day off since we are a little
ahead of schedule. Branson is only 30 miles away. Floyd and Danny are
big fans of country music, so we want those hard working souls to enjoy
the experience. We will start Thursday morning from Seymour and hope
to make it just past Cabool.
