The Interstate

Starting time: 3:00 P.M.
Ending Time: 8:00 P.M.
Total Distance: 30 miles

We began the day in Santa Clarita, California. We headed to a bike shop to get necessary equipment for mountain riding. We began riding around 3:00 in the afternoon on a six lane Interstate. After riding for about 3 miles we were pulled over by a policeman on a motorcycle. He informed us that we were forbidden by law to ride our bicycles on an Interstate. So we exited the freeway, and Danny - shortly thereafter - got a flat tire. After the lengthy changing process we proceeded on for about 5 miles when Charles hit some broken glass and cut his tire.

Danny and Roman rode on due to the fact that we got a late start and would have to ride through the Sierra Mountains. The ride through the mountains was beautiful, yet strenuous. We saw a roadrunner, deer, and many farm animals. It was tiring but a well worth while ride. We covered a meager distance of 30 miles. We arrived in Vincent at around 8:00 P.M. The ride was uphill for much of the way and was extremely steep. The riders were picked up cold and exhausted and quickly fell asleep in the Motel 6.
