Danny’s strength was showing today. After a very long day yesterday,
Roman and Charles were asking for a day off since we are a day ahead.
Danny was full of energy and ready to ride. So we did. The flat land
and the wind behind us in the late morning was a pleasure.
Danny found a nail - our first flat tire in over 8 days. He quickly
changed his tube. A gas station was close by to fill the tire. The hand
pumps can only fill the tire to about 50 pounds. Danny likes to ride
with 90-100 psi. Charles is very sensitive about his tires and ours.
He checks them almost each morning. He likes 110-120 psi in his. Roman
sees tire pressure as a waste of time.
This
picture does not manifest the aroma of the poor cows. But these stockyards
occur far to often to enjoy a ride in this peaceful countryside. When
we dismounted and walked over to the fences the large cows came over
to us. They moved with interest and curiosity. There are so many cows
in this state that we don’t think they would be able to fit them all
in South Carolina.
Once we arrived in Pratt, KA, we enjoyed a salad bar and pizza at Pizza
Hut. Then Danny and Charles took off for naps. Roman and Sean went
to the computer, since we finally were able to get on line. Roman was
on
line for over 4 hours! Lydia took off shopping. An old 82 Olds 98 had
caught her interest. And Floyd disappeared with the motor home. He
did not return until 6:00, four hours latter. He said the desk clerk
refereed
him to a hair cutter, but it was a woman. He wasn’t going to have any
beauty parlor cut his hair. But he found a male barber and got his
moneys worth.

Mileage wise, we are half way home. But we have some beautiful country
to cover over the next five weeks.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, we are off towards Wichita, about 80 miles east.
Danny has a radio and newspaper interview tomorrow morning. Sean has
been working hard with the Chamber's of Commerce to set up these sessions.
Sean also got a return call from the American Cancer Society in Kansas
today. More news on talks and pictures will be forth coming.
