Smooth Day,
Almost
Starts time: 9:30 A.M.
Distance: 84 miles
End time: 4:00 P.M.
Top speed: 42.1 mph
Average speed: 13.8 mph
Temp: at beginning in the high 60’s, ended in the low 80’s, the wind was
to our left/ blowing hard
Total distance: 585.2
The two days of rest did our legs well, as evident of the average speed
of today? We were all sorry to be leaving the beautiful Grand Canyons.
The time we spent at the National Park was fun, relaxing, and offered
us an opportunity to be together, without the problems of the road. We
were fortunate to have this time to build a better family.
We
arrived at the Tuba City, AZ around 3:45. There is not city limits
sign, so the animal doctor sign will have to prove we did make it. There
are
only two hotels in town. The Quality Inn was booked, so we came to
the Dine’ Inn Motel. It is just under a month old, but there are not
phones. For a change, we had great TV with remotes and lots of channels.

We ate dinner at Kate’s.
According to the locals, Kate's is the best restaurant in town. There
was a nine year old Native American that was
offering necklaces for a fair price. Danny was feeling so wonderful,
for a welcomed change, that he wanted to celebrate so he demanded to
buy us all a souvenir. Once we selected the treasure Floyd try to help
Danny save some funds by negating a better price.
As you can see from the PIC we had a great time and a super dinner.
The total bill was under $45 for six gigantic feasts. It was the first
restaurant to offer pecan pie, but we were so full we could not fit it
in. The soup was tasty and warming, the salad was fresh and filling,
and the chicken, lasagna, and burgers were perfect. The service was excellent,
as well.
Tomorrow we plan to depart very early for Kayenta, AZ. We have about
80 miles to travel again, but no downhills, unfortunately. After the
wonderful meal tonight, we should be able to make it.
We are now in Mountain Time, so we are only two hours behind Charleston
time.
