We road from the town of Williams, AZ on Wed the 12 to the Grand Canyon, AZ. We started in the very cold of the morning. It was 6:50 A.M. There was no traffic and the road went quickly as we pedaled. Our legs have become friendlier with each slowly passing day. Our seats are even getting comfortable.

Sunset We arrived at the Grand Canyon. We hope to have more great days like this. Starting early and getting through early leaves lots of time to enjoy each other and the sites. Most of the afternoon of the 12th was spent site seeing on busses and taking pictures of the sunset.

On the 13th, we got up at 5:00 A.M., to see the sun rise over the Grand Canyon. We also walked the Western Rim, about 8 miles of paths. It was breath taking. The colors, the massiveness, the vastness are inspiring and peaceful. We sat for 3 hours watching the sunrise. The colors of the Canyons changed from the morning black, to pink, to red, to blue, to the natural cream and pink. I hope the pictures can share with you the impact nature’s creation has on us. The effort to get here is small in comparison to the mammoth impression the Grand Canyon has on all. We wish we could soar like birds to fully enjoy every angle and point of view. The IMAX movie almost allowed us to feel this prospective.

Grand Canyon

Roman and Sean are excited to be with "young" folks. They enjoyed a night on the town. Lydia has taken 15 rolls of film. Charles has not gotten enough of bike ridding. He has traded his road bike for the spare mountain bike we are carrying and is cruising all over the National Park. Floyd has been here over 20 times, so he is great at pointing out sites and happenings we need to enjoy and undertake. Danny has been in his room for two days, sick. He seems to be doing better, but it is hard to tell. He is eating. So this is helping him recover. The long day in the strong head wind, driving rain, chilling cold, and hard climbing mountains worn him down. We are anxious to find a double or triple seater. If you have access to one, please call Charles’s sister Diane at 843-224-3774. At this point, riding more than a few hours takes it out of Danny, so we need to find a better means to help him achieve his goal of riding from sea to sea. A two or three seat bike seems to be the best plan.

The sooner we can acquire a two or three seater (multi-speed), the sooner he will stop pushing himself.
